SPEEDWAY CHILDREN’S CHARITIES TO RIDE IN POCONO

The Speedway Children’s Charities logo will ride again on the front hood of  Dan Pardus’ Chevy Monte Carlo this weekend in Pocono.

“We’re happy to continue promoting the work of this fine organization.” commented co-owner Jim Gardner at his shop last week. “They give back so much to the racing community. Last year, Speedway Children’s Charities provided grant money to 160 Children Charities benefiting more than 122,000 children.”

Driver Dan Pardus added, “It’s a charity, but the SCC planned events make it fun to give. Charities say to give until its hurts, but giving to Speedway Charities never hurts.”

Some of the charity events include the recently completed Rusty Wallace "Splash for Kids” a jet ski Ride Along on Lake Norman near Mooresville, NC. Another event will be the annual charity golf tournament on August 23rd at Bristol Tennessee, with race drivers and other racing dignitaries participating.

SCC director, Debbie Wilson stated that one of her favorite  benefits is the “Ladies Night in the Garage”, which is scheduled for September 22nd at Lowe's Motor Speedway in Charlotte. Debbie’s eyes lit up when talking about it. “There will be a lockdown in the garage area at night, and plenty of security. The security guards are all women.. We have a big pajama party all night. Local merchants set up to cater to the guests. We’ll have make-up clinics, massage therapists, hot tubs, fashion shows, food sampling, wine tasting, and hair and beauty stylists.” The event can accommodate over 300 guests, all women. Debbie added, “The donation is only $100 person. Men have offered us considerably more, but we turn them down every year.”
