RED LIGHT/GREEN LIGHT

DAN PARDUS STARTS 22ND, FINISHES 11TH IN GEORGIA BOOT 400

Children play a game called red light/green light. The leader is the stop light. All others line up at a distance behind the stop light. The stop light faces away from the others and says "green light" Everyone tries to move forward towards the stop light. At any point, the stop light may say "red light" and turn around. If he sees anyone moving, he can make them go back to the starting point. The stop light's decision to make you go back is final.

Dan Pardus and Team 42 got to play a racing version of RED LIGHT/GREEN LIGHT last weekend. During pre-qualifying practice, the car would not come up to speed. It was discovered the engine was pushing water through the manifolds. (Red Light) A decision to replace the engine before qualifying was made. (Green Light) ARCA officials informed the team the car must be in inspection by 4:00 PM or we could not qualify. (Red Light) With just two hours to replace the engine and re-do the car set-up, Team 42 came together
and rolled the car through the inspection line at 3:58 PM. (Green Light) The rains descended on the Atlanta Motor Speedway, and ARCA officials postponed qualifying until Friday. (Yellow Light

On Friday, the rains continued and qualifying was cancelled and the
decision to start the race by owner points were was made. Dan would start 22nd. (Green Light)

At the start of the race. there were several early cautions. Dan pitted
early to make adjustments. Shawna Robinson was leading the race and Dan was running 22nd on Lap 40. Dan was consistently running faster than the leaders and moving through the field. (Green Light) On lap 52 Dan was 17th, Lap 66 he moved to 4th, Lap 70 to 3rd, and on Lap 72 Dan took over the lead. (Green, Green, Green Light) On lap 75, Dan was 23.5 seconds ahead of the second place car, Kerry Earnhardt.

On lap 81, a caution came just prior to Dan's pit stop for gas and tires.
Dan fell in behind the pace car. Pit road was closed. Following the pace car down the back stretch, Dan ran out of gas and had to be pushed into the pits. Dan went from first to 12th, one lap down.
(Red Light}. For the remainder of the race, Dan kept pace with the leaders but could not regain the lost lap. He finished in 11th place.

Because of the race postponement, many teams were short crew members. Team 42 had three card carrying AARP members going over the wall. Big Jim, Larry and Gary. (Red Light) None of them stumbled and fell on their face. (Green Light)

With the team effort made this weekend getting the car on the track,
Larry's guidance in making the car competitive, Dan's driving ability to
take the car to the front, Jim and Judie Motorsports has a GREEN LIGHT going into next season.
