PARDUS JOINS ANOTHER TEAM

(Daytona News-Journal) Daytona Beach native and Busch Series driver Dan Pardus has signed up to help students at the Florida School for the Deaf and Blind in St. Augustine.

Pardus met school officials Kathy Shetler and L. Daniel Hutto between tests of his Busch Series car last week at Daytona International Speedway.

Beyond making on-campus visits that will include giving the kids a chance to climb into the Jim & Judie Motorsports Chevrolet, Pardus will be involved in fundraising efforts -- the proceeds of which will be directed to the school.

To kick off his efforts Pardus will host a 6-10 p.m. Tuesday Feb. 8, fundraiser at Diamondbacks Restaurant, 745 Ridgewood Ave., Holly Hill.

Included in the festivities will be Pardus' Busch Series car; an autograph session from 7-8 p.m.; and, a silent auction will be conducted for racing memorabilia and gift certificates.

One of the night’s highlights will be a drawing for two Speed Weeks Busch Series garage and pit passes, courtesy of Pardus and car-owner Jim Gardner.

Advance drawing tickets are available at the restaurant and the winner need not be present to win. All proceeds go to the Florida School for the Deaf and Blind.

THE OUTDOOR CHANNEL SIGNS FIFTEEN RACE BUSCH SERIES DEAL WITH JIM AND JUDIE MOTORSPORTS FOR 2002

TEMECULA, Calif. Management of The Outdoor Channel, Inc. announced today that is has reached an agreement with Jim and Judie Motorsports of Charlotte, North Carolina on a NASCAR Busch Series schedule for 2002. Driver Dan Pardus will pilot the #32 Outdoor Channel Chevrolet in fifteen races in 2002. The team competed in six races in 2001 with a season best finish of 29th at Phoenix in October and plans to develop into a Busch contender over the next several years.

Outdoor Channel Vice President Wade Sherman said, "Dan Pardus is a former Goody’s Dash Series and ARCA driver with Winston Cup experience with the #50 Midwest Transit team. The team took some lumps in 2001 making the difficult transition from ARCA to NASCAR’s Busch Series. We feel that with experience gained in 2001 combined with a year of racing notes and the addition of former Winston Cup crew chief Greg Conner, the team will be much more competitive in 2002. We are excited about the new season, and are confident we can build a winning program in the coming years.”

Dan Pardus said, “I am excited to continue my relationship with the Outdoor Channel. The move to the Busch Series was positive for both our team and the Outdoor Channel. I am confident our 2001 experience, plus the addition of Greg Conner crew chief, additional shop fabricators and our planned testing program will make the Outdoor Channel team more competitive in 2002.

The 2002 schedule includes both races at Rockingham, Charlotte, Richmond, Darlington, and Nashville, as well as the races at Las Vegas, Texas, Kentucky, Michigan, and Phoenix. For a complete schedule and dates, visit www.outdoorchannel.com.
